    navigating the complexities of womanhood

Like many twenty-somethings, Harriet was thrown into the complexities of being a woman and felt there wasn’t a guiding direction, as there had been during her earlier years.

From the outside looking in, she was the epitome of what it meant to be a “put together” modern women: climbing the corporate ladder, working with world-renowned beauty brands and retailers, learning and growing, surrounded by success.

However, whilst her career was booming and life seemed to be coming together, Harriet repeatedly found herself turning inwards, hoping to understand why, when everything seemed to be going so well, she was dealing with food intolerances, PCOS, and high stress levels that manifested in an array of ways.

The truth? There was a lack of self-care and self-awareness, not just within her, but the same rang true when speaking with the women she knew, and she believed, probably rang true for those she didn’t know. But why was this such a phenomenon?

    clarity appears

After spending so many years in the health and beauty industry, it was clear that the world women live in is often one that perpetuates the idea of the “perfect” woman, throwing so many people into a crisis of self-worth. They feel misunderstood, isolated, and judged, with impractical and useless information being thrown their way, trend after trend, product after product.

Harriet felt disheartened by the message that emanated from the industry, the lack of representation, and ultimately, at the fact that as a society, we all lack knowledge of our personal wellbeing and how to look after ourselves – body, mind, and soul.

“That’s when I realised just how detached we are to our bodies, and the lack of advice and resources available to us ––especially as women.”

Harriet realised what was glaringly missing: there was no place for her, or other women, to turn to learn more about themselves, to heal their physical and mental wellbeing, and to feel supported and guided.

    Title

    dandy, a new way forward

Whilst on her own journey of self-discovery, after quitting her job and spending time travelling, something that stood out to Harriet was the amount of people who seemed to be struggling with similar difficulties to her own, both women in her close circle and strangers she met along the way.

“I often found that women would quietly talk about personal issues amongst friends and lean on each other, but not openly talk about their issues elsewhere. People were coming to me for advice, and while I loved sharing the knowledge I’d gained through my years of personal development, I did wonder: where else could people turn to? How can I create something that empowers and inspires these wonderful, intelligent, and highly intuitive women to look for the answers within themselves? How can I give people the tools they need to better understand themselves, and change their lives?”

That’s when the idea for Dandy Wellness was born.

A digital sanctuary that supports women in all our unique situations, eliminating negative distractions and providing tangible pathways as we journey through the different phases of our lives was brought to life.

“I like to think of Dandy as the big sister we all need. Dandy does the hard work for you, allowing you to feel inspired and guided in your decisions. Dandy is wellness without whimsical notes, here to show you that wellness can be inclusive, diverse and attainable. It comes from a place of non-judgement, celebrating the fact that we are all a work in progress. Dandy leaves you feeling supported and understood.”

a tastemaker in the world of wellness

Harriet’s aim is to change our collective approach to health and wellness. Armed with years of expertise and knowledge in the health and beauty industry, she knows products inside and out, she knows what works, and what doesn’t, but even more importantly, she knows how we should be approaching wellness – with our own self-awareness.

“ I wholeheartedly believe that everything is rooted in self-awareness and I want Dandy to help you get there, faster and more genuinely. We are all work in progress, and must be compassionate towards ourselves: we are all trying our best, but we can try to do it together.”

That’s what Dandy Wellness is all about, and that’s our only hope for the future: should you ever feel alone in facing life’s most arduous tests, you’ll know you’ll always have Dandy and our community who are all going through life, together.
